About Tartan Ada
Ed Kuzemchak, Technical Consultant, Tartan Ada LLC
Tartan Ada was developed by Tartan Laboratories Inc., which was founded in 1981 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania by William Wulf and Anita Jones of Carnegie Mellon University. See the wikipedia article on Tartan Laboratories for a complete history of Tartan Laboratories.
Tartan Laboratories developed highly optimizing compilers, including the first validated Ada compiler for a digital signal processor, Tartan Ada for TI C30/C40 family of DSPs. Tartan Laboratories was renamed Tartan Inc. in 1990 and was active in the standardization effort of the Ada language and Common Ada Runtime System standardization efforts. Tartan Inc was acquired by Texas Instruments in 1996 and TADS for C30/C40 was marketed by Texas Instruments until 2003. Tartan Ada for C30/C40 was acquired by my friend and mentor who formed Tartan Software Inc. to continue to maintain and license TADS for C30/C40. Tartan Ada LLC. acquired the Tartan Ada C30/C40 product line and all interests from Tartan Software Inc on Dec 14, 2018 and maintains and licenses Tartan Ada C30/C40 TADS to this day. |
